Inflammation of the Hip Bursae can be very painful to any person… The hip region of the human body contains two major bursae. What is a bursae? A bursae is a fluid filled sac like cavity that is especially designed for countering friction. In the hip there is two, one is located on the outside of the hip and it is called the trochanteric bursa. The other one is called the ischial bursa which covers the area of bone called the ischial tuberosity. These bones are known informally as the sitting bones. The Inflammation of either bursae may lead to pain and stiffness around the hip joint. This is not to be confused with the true joint pain of arthritis. Most common forms of Hip Bursae inflammation is overuse from running, cycling, and similar activities of sport. This condition causes hip pain that tends to worsen at night, and getting up from a seated position may also cause pain. Treatment of inflammation of the hip bursae or hip bursitis consists of avoiding activities that produce symptoms and taking non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to reduce pain and swelling. Physiotherapy, Massage Therapy, & Bowen Therapy, and with extreme cases steroid injections may be warranted. Using a cane or hospital crutches may help take the load off the inflamed area.
Now, with the arrival of Bowen Therapy, there is another bowstring to help with reducing pain and inflammation of the hip Bursae. From the moment of diagnosis, Bowen Therapy’s Pelvic & Sacrum procedures gently begin reducing pain and swelling of the Hip Bursae region. Bowen Therapy is a set system of small moves, the technique is a gentle, fast and effective way to treat muscle and connective tissue disorders. The Bowen Therapy client can, within weeks, enjoy activity, if not sport, without pain. In some Bowen Therapy clients, Sprain ankle pain symptoms have been known to cease altogether in six to twelve weeks instead of months by conventional means.
